Zdouc Lab Microbial Natural Products Meet Data Science

Zdouc Lab @ University of Vienna

The Zdouc research lab investigates naturally occurring, specialized molecules called natural products. These small molecules are widely used in medicine, food science, and agriculture, and are of enormous societal importance. Our investigation focuses on microbial natural products, which are especially promising for the development of new antibiotics.

The Zdouc lab aims to unravel the chemical language of nature using data science, linked open data, and experimental investigation. By developing new algorithms for genome and metabolome mining, establishing data infrastructure, and discovering new molecules, we aim to foster the development of effective new drugs, sustainable agrochemicals, and microbiome-friendly food additives.
